Charlie Gresham Notches Solid Runner-Up Finish In Lanier US Legends Headliner
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BRASSELTON, GA (May 8, 2010) - Charlie Gresham hasn’t had much opportunity to race his US Legends International Legends car this season, so when the opportunity presented itself this weekend at Lanier National Raceway, the 13-year-old driver made the most of it wheeling his No. 7-11 racer to a second-place finish in the Young Lions main event.
“I’m pretty happy with that,” said Gresham afterward. “I have raced in quite awhile, so running well and coming home second was real good. As the race went on, I felt more comfortable.”
Gresham, a Milner, GA resident, started on the inside of the second row of the 20-lap Semi-Pro/Young Lions Legends headliner and had spirited battle with several competitors throughout the race. At the finish, Gresham held off a strong challenge to grab the runner-up trophy in just his second outing of the 2010 season.
“For me right now, it’s all about learning,” said Gresham. “I’m figuring out how hard I can drive the car into the corner, how much brake I can use. I learn a lot every time out. I’m looking forward to doing more races here at Lanier, at Gresham Motorsports Park, and at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Summer Shootout Series this year. I’m hoping our schedule will allow us to race as much as I can this summer.”
