Kirila Ready To Rumble In SGMP Pro Late Model Battle
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GRIFFIN, GA (June 30, 2010) – Gene Kirila has had nearly a month off since his last race and to hear the Pennsylvania teenager to tell it, he’s ready to head South Georgia Motorsports Park this weekend for the Slam Series Pro Late Model race.
“I can’t wait to get to the track this weekend,” said Kirila, driver of the No. 11 Gresham Motorsports Pro Late Model. “We had a good test at South Georgia Motorsports Park a couple of weeks ago. We ran through some drills and I feel like we have a lot of confidence. I know I got what I needed out of the test. I’m getting better at finding the desired feel of the car and how to that communicate to the crew. I’m looking forward to a good finish.”
Kirila struggled his last time out finishing 14th in the Show Me The Money 100 at Montgomery Motor Speedway on June 5. The young driver appeared to be on target for a Top-10 finish only to have tire problems and a rain shower short-circuit the performance.
Now, Kirila is hoping for a better result this weekend at SGMP.
“I’ve got a lot of confidence in my car and this Gresham Motorsports team,” Kirila stated. “I’m getting more and more comfortable racing with these guys. We’ve had three or four races and some tests to build. Now it’s time to go out and prove ourselves.”
Saturday’s seven-division racing spectacular at South Georgia Motorsports Park gets underway when the pit gates open at 2 p.m. Eastern Time. Practice begins at 4 p.m. with the first race set for 7:15 p.m.
