Max Gresham Third At Lime Rock

LAKEVILLE, CT (July 3, 2010) – Max Gresham made his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series road course event a memorable one racing his way to a third-place finish in the K&N 100 at Lime Rock Park Saturday.
Gresham, a 17-year-old Woodward Academy (College Park, GA) senior student, started his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota 11th in the XX car field and immediately worked his way up to seventh in the first five laps of the race.
JGR crew chief Mike Sibley then pulled the trigger on a strategic move bringing Gresham to pit road for fuel under green flag conditions on Lap 6. The ‘short pit’ move put Gresham back in the pack, but now he could go the distance without having to come in for service later in the race.
Gresham continued to do his part on the race track wheeling his way back up to 10th when the caution flew on Lap 28 for debris in the chicane portion of the track. Back under green two laps later, Gresham surged to seventh before another yellow flag period slowed the race on the 35th circuit.
Not to be denied, Gresham showed the skill of a veteran road racer moving his way through traffic and missing a spin in front of him sliding into third place with just 15 laps remaining.
Along with his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Brett Moffitt, Gresham tried to run down the leaders on the 1.53-mile twisting layout but ran out of laps to finish third behind winner Andrew Ranger and runner-up Cole Whitt.
Moffitt, Ryan Truex, Darrell Wallace, Jr., Eddie MacDonald, Jeff Anton, Miguel Paludo and Sergio Pena completed the Top-10 finishers.
Gresham will return to Iowa Speedway next Saturday, July 10, for his second career ARCA race. In May, Gresham wheeled his JGR Toyota to a win in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at the Newton, IA track.
