Charlie Gresham Rolls To Fifth-Place Finish At AMS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GRIFFIN, GA (March 8, 2010) - Charlie Gresham opened his 2010 racing season with a solid fifth-place finish in the US Legends International Young Lions main event Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The 13-year-old Milner, GA driver started on the outside of the third row and immediately backed up as the top groove proved to be the slow line around the AMS quarter-mile oval.
Now near the back of the field, Gresham methodically marched through the field to score the fifth-place finish in his first outing of the 2010 campaign.
Meanwhile, Gresham’s older brother, Max, wasn’t as fortunate as a mechanical problem derailed an apparent winning effort in the US Legends International Thunder Car main event.
Gresham jumped from his third starting position into the runner-up spot at the drop of the green flag and quickly challenged Ed Clark for the lead. After several attempts to pass, Gresham ducked to the inside and into the lead only to have the clutch go south in his Gresham Motorsports racer as he exited Turn 2 with just a handful of laps remaining.
The Gresham brothers will stay busy this season with Charlie regularly competing in the Thursday Thunder US Legends International at AMS. He will also compete in other select US Legends International events throughout the Southeast in 2010.
Max Gresham will wheel a Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota full-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2010 as well as compete in select ARCA events in a Gresham Motorsports entry.
